SEN Teaching Assistant Secondary (Primary curriculum)

Cover People are currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work across all key stage 3 and 4 providing Support pupils with a special school who are seconary age but following a Primary cirriculum. 

The Role

A large, warm and welcoming Primary School based in Bolton are looking for an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team and provide support across KS2 to vulnerable pupils with social emotional and mental health. The role would be to work full time Monday – Friday, the working hours are 8:30am – 3:30pm.

The school require the Teaching Assistant to be skilled and experienced with working with children with a special school. The Teaching Assistant would also need to have successfully supported very vulnerable children with SEN needs by providing nurture and clear structure and routine. The successful Teaching Assistant would also need them to be skilled at working in a team, following direction, as well as be reliable and punctual with good attendance. This is vital due to the nature of the role as the TA will be supporting vulnerable children who need structure and stability to help ensure their success within a school setting.

The candidate must have:

  • Prior experience working with children within KS3/4 special School setting 
  • Experience and knowledge of supporting children with SEN
  • Knowledge of the Primary curriculum
  • A passion for working with young children with SEN
  • Understanding of working with SEN children
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • DBS on update register
  • References for last 2 years work history
  • Up to date CV

The School

Children come to this School in order to access their unique curriculum which puts the needs of the individual child first. They aim to provide every child with a rich variety of experiences to stimulate, engage, delight and encourage learning.

All the children at the school experience severe or profound difficulties in learning. There may also be the need for additional support with sensory impairments such as vision, hearing or sensory integration difficulties.

Many children also access support for physical disabilities and complex medical conditions. The School currently have five class groups dedicated to the needs of children with autism.
