Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, looking for an opportunity to make a difference to children with special needs? Cover People are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistants to support a large Primary School in M8 with their SEN support needs. The school is located next to a tram stop and has a large on site car park. The shcool is passionate about the development and support of all children with excellent provisions in place to support children with SEN. Whilst working within the Primary school you will be there to help create a nurturing and inclusive environment for students with additional needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support and assistance to students with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met effectively.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages the social and emotional growth of students.
  • Assist with academic tasks, ensuring access to the curriculum and facilitating active engagement in learning.
  • Encourage independence and self-confidence in students with SEN, helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Monitor and track student’s progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience: Previous experience working with students with SEN is highly desirable. This could include experience gained through volunteering, placements, or previous employment.
  • Knowledge of SEN: A good understanding of different types of special educational needs and strategies for supporting students with SEN is essential.
  • Patience and empathy: The ability to remain patient, calm, and empathetic when working with students who may have challenging behaviours or communication difficulties.
  • Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial for effectively liaising with students, parents, and staff.
  • Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to the overall success of the SEN department.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
