Job Description:

The Head of Science plays a crucial role in leading and managing the Science department within an educational institution. The primary responsibility is to oversee the development and implementation of the Science curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and promoting a culture of academic excellence.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Science curriculum in line with educational standards and objectives
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Science department staff
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching methods and resources
  • Coordinate with other departments to integrate Science into interdisciplinary projects
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources efficiently
  • Organise and oversee Science-related extracurricular activities and events

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field
  • Teaching qualification or certification
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a Science department

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in Science
  • Strong knowledge of Science curriculum development and assessment
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff and students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Science Education or a related field
  • Experience in educational administration or school leadership
  • Professional development in Science education

Working Conditions:

The Head of Science position is a full-time role, expected to work standard hours. The role may require occasional evening or weekend work to attend events or meetings. The individual will work primarily within the educational institution but may also need to travel for conferences or training purposes.
