SEN Teaching Assistant
Cover People are currently recruiting for an TA for a full-time role in a Primary School in Oldham to start as soon as possible.
A primary school in Oldham is currently looking for a TA to provide support both inside and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will join a Year 2 class initially but could be asked to work in other year groups as needed so knowledge of the whole school curriculum would be an advantage. You will be required to work with small groups provided extra support in the form of interventions as well as working with higher ability children and pushing them to help reach their potential. As a TA you will be required to support the teacher in every aspect of the classroom including behaviour management, will need to update the teacher on the progress of the children you are working with and will be able to adapt your style of teaching to the needs of the children.
The candidate must have:
• 6 months experience working with children
• Experience and knowledge of supporting children with SEN would be an advantage
• Proactive working attitude
• Knowledge of KS1 and KS2 curriculum
• Excellent behaviour management skills
• Excellent communication skills
• DBS on update register
• References for last 2 years work history
• Up to date CV
The school is in a deprived area of Oldham with high levels of SENH and EAL. Whilst the children’s behaviour is challenging the school are working hard to support the wellbeing of the children and running family support services to help improve the lives of the families in the local community.
