SEN Teaching Assistant

Cover People are currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work at a mainstream Primary school in Manchester. The TA will be required to support across all year groups helping children with special educational needs. This is a versatile role as it requires for the TA to be adaptable as you will be supporting children within different year groups based on their ability instead of age.

The Role

A Primary School in Manchester, is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to provide to support to a variety of pupils across both Key stages. The role will be to work with pupils outside of the mainstream classroom in small groups and on a 121 basis. There will be a SEN Teacher helping to run the classes and other Tas to ensure each pupil gets the support that they require. Your role will be to help support the running of small group interventions in core subjects as well as helping pupils with delayed learning difficulties who may be working at lower levels. The pupils will have ASD, ADHD & Global Delay. Good behaviour management skills will be key to the role as well as the ability to build strong relationships with children. Experience of working with ASD, ADHD and Global Delay is an advantage. The candidate is expected to be able to lead and take charge when working with the small groups however be able to form relationships with pupils to ensure engagement, commitment and development.

The candidate must have:

  • A minimum of 6 months experience working with SEN children
  • Experience and knowledge of supporting children with SEN
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • DBS on update register
  • References for last 2 years work history
  • Up to date CV
