Performing Arts Teacher - Full Time (Long Term)
Location: Mainstream Secondary School, Wigan

Are you an enthusiastic and passionate Performing Arts teacher with a flair for inspiring creativity in young people? Cover People are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded secondary school in Wigan that is seeking a skilled and motivated teacher to join their Performing Arts department. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and develop students’ talents in a vibrant, forward-thinking school setting.

Position Overview:
This is a full-time, long-term position starting in January 2024, with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate. The successful applicant will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering lessons in Music, Drama, or a general Performing Arts curriculum, depending on your area of specialism. As part of a supportive and collaborative department, you will have the opportunity to engage students with varied backgrounds and skill levels, fostering their creativity, performance skills, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach engaging and inspiring Performing Arts classes, including Music, Drama, or a broad Performing Arts curriculum.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring students develop practical and theoretical skills in performing arts.
  • Support and mentor students at different ability levels, encouraging their enthusiasm for performance and appreciation of the arts.
  • Collaborate with other department members to build and enhance the performing arts program, contributing fresh ideas to extracurricular activities, performances, and showcases.
  • Evaluate and assess students’ work, providing constructive feedback and tracking progress in line with school and curriculum standards.
  • Participate actively in school events, performances, and extra-curricular clubs, helping to cultivate a thriving arts culture within the school.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
  • Degree in Performing Arts, Music or Drama
  • Teaching experience in a secondary school setting is desirable, with a strong understanding of the national curriculum for Performing Arts.
  • Passion for the arts, creativity, and ability to engage students across a range of abilities and backgrounds.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with students, staff, and parents.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience running extracurricular activities, such as school plays, music ensembles, or arts clubs.
  • A record of achieving positive learning outcomes and inspiring students in the performing arts.
  • Knowledge of contemporary teaching methods in arts education and a proactive approach to continuous professional development.
